Hi Birth companions!

So you’re here because your lovely, pregnant wife/partner/girlfriend mentioned that she wants to do something called Hypnobirthing and you have some questions.

I get it! My husband was unsure at first too. First off, plenty of partners are put off by the name Hypnobirthing. What does it even mean and what does it have to do with birth? Rest assured though that the hypnosis we use is very, very different to anything you may have ever seen on stage or TV. I explain it in great detail during the course and we never do anything that you’re not comfortable with. When you are experiencing hypnosis, you are simply relaxing deeply and listening to me talk.

Or maybe you’re worried that it’s just some weird hippy crap and I’m going to try to make you have a home birth. Nope. I am your total, average mom living in the suburbs. I don’t care if you birth in a hospital, birth center or at home – as long you are are informed and confident.

Trust me when I say, this class will be useful for both you and your pregnant partner. As a support person, the more knowledge you have of the maternity care system, the more confidently you can advocate for the laboring mom and adequately support her.

During the classes, you as Birth Partners will learn lots of infomation like:

  • Massage techniques both soft and firm (acupressure)

  • Positions you can suggest for labor

  • How to set up the perfect birth environment

  • Tons of verbal and physical cues to help your partner relax

  • How to talk to your care provider in a confident, non-confrontational way

  • How much water your partner needs to drink

  • Getting labor restarted if it slows down

  • What a Birth Plan is and why you should have one

  • Plus sooooo much more

My classes are relaxed and fun. I hope I’ll meet you soon in one of them!
